There was even a case of the famous Vietnam War picture of a little girl running because the village was hit by napalm and her clothes burned off. An anti-war group or something had posted that picture to show the horrors of war, but Facebook considered it a child pornography and took down the picture and warned the group about their conduct. The picture has been in textbooks for years but Facebook algorithms and moderators still responded in that way.

JWs or Watchtower may have nothing to do with this actually. Facebook had a lot of bad press earlier this year with suicides being filmed on Facebook Live and broadcasted. Facebook then decided in May to hire an additional 3000 reviewers and up their algorithms to proactively take down things that break their code of conduct. It is also noteworthy to remember Facebook is not a government and cannot be forced to keep any speech that it deems offensive up. It is a private company that can choose what they allow and who they allow to speak. Just like this site or JWSurvey any other site that allows for comments, they owner of the site can choose at a moment's notice to take down anything they don't like and there is no recourse.

Freddo:
He was DF over the child molestation. They did not hand over any investigation notes was because the matter was either being investigated by the authorities before the JC investigation was started or as in the case of the appeal committee the decision to uphold the DF was after the man finished his prison sentence.

sorry, darkspilver I wasn't trying to argue with you. I was trying to agree with you. You're absolutely right from an internal investigation it should have been handled differently. You brought up what if they are acquitted and highlighted another thread on here. You don't have to look at another thread. Look at this case the man was found not guilty when he first molested someone. He should have been DF then but by law, he wasn't a molester he was accused and found to not have happened.

darkspilver also in the report it showed that DFing is the only mechanism that JWs have an internal procedure to remove the member. Their criticism wasn't that the congregation investigated it but that there were serious flaws during the investigation and punishment including during the appeal committee.

IICSA investigations
by Phoebe inhaving just watched john cedars latest youtube video i am appalled that jws do not make up part of the investigation into institutions that have failed to protect children from sexual abuse.. i have emailed and begged them to reevaluate their decision.. if anyone else wants to do so, this is the email i used, i don't know if it's the right one, it's on their website.. It is interesting that this inquiry appears to be in conjunction with the 4 other three inquires of the other commonwealths of the crown that have occurred. Of the 5 inquiries the only one that had anything to do with Watchtower is Australia. Northern Ireland, Jersey or Scottland and now England have no inquiry into Watchtower.

Dutch petition for investigation into child abuse cases
by jochie inplease read.
last weekend, trouw, a dutch newspaper, published several articles on sexual abuse within the jehovah's witnesses organization.
this church organization attempts to resolve abuse internally without going to the police or courts.. so therefore i made this petition to ask the dutch parliament to start an investigation.

It is extremely noble for you to start this petition. Something must be done to help protect children. I just have a problem with your point #1. First of all, it is very vague, what do you mean that "The religious freedom of individuals is respected." This is extremely overly broad and could mean anything.
I think you are meaning that you want them to investigate Disfellowshipping and Shunning. This practice is not a good policy at all but I hate when people connect the abuse of children with that of disfellowshipping when they try to have a petition or try to communicate with governmental officials. Child abuse is breaking the law, shunning is not against the law. These need to be separate items and not try to connect the two. While yes Angus Stewart connected the emotional strain of shunning with child abuse he did not connect the whole practice of shunning with it, he narrowed it to only that of shunning those who have been victims of child abuse.

Blood Transfusions/Blood Salvage
by NJ501 inhi all,i've been doing some research on blood transfusions and fractions.
i found out a patient can donate their own blood, so it can be used for elective surgery...i was wondering if theirs really any difference between a blood transfusion of your own blood and the blood salvage procedure.
i think quite similar since its just a re-transfusion of your own blood.. what are your thoughts?

According to Watchtower Doctrine storing one's blood is not acceptable but cell salvage is. It is because cell salvage is considered as a closed circuit and the blood doesn't officially leave the body flow, per Watchtower view. It is believed that if you store the blood than it has left the circulation of the body. That is the official understanding per them. Other people can express their views and opinions on this.

It is interesting, and hopefully the British Branch inquiry they will be forced to make a change, but it is interesting that the Commission did not have a problem with the requirement that the trustees contact the legal department first. They should call the police first so hopefully, that will change.
